R.I.P. to our man and my friend, the Late GREAT Guru. (July 17, 1961 - April 19, 2010) DJ Tactics and Jay-Ski paying tribute the only way we know how, by rocking some of Guru's infamous classic recordings. This show also features a few freestyles from Guru, one of which he did for me when he dropped by the radio station back in 2003. We also have some live footage from a European tour, and a lost interlude that never made any album. Most importantly, I got my good friend Monie Love to drop some memories on us that she shared with Guru. Enjoy the show! Guru Forever... PURE ELEMENTZ 5-1-2010

It's that time again. Today is February 7, 2010, and on this day back in 1974, one of the greatest producers of all time was born. Ironically, February 10th (2006) was the day that he died. On this episode we pay tribute to the classic sounds of J Dilla, barely scratching the surface of his classic beats and rhymez. In the second hour we also pay tribute to three other legends who recently passed on : Apache , Killa Sha , and Teddy Pendergrass. And DJ Tactics even sneaks in a couple new bangers. Pure Elementz brought to you by DJ Jay-Ski and DJ Tactics! This episode is 2 hours long and jam-packed, too many classics to list! Enjoy. PURE ELEMENTZ 2-2-2010

Podcast SummaryTransmitting live and direct from the planet of Jersey, DJ Jay-Ski and DJ Tactics dropping nothing but pure Hip-Hop gems on ya. About PureElementzPure Elementz came into existence as a radio show on Philadelphia's 103.9 The Beat radio station. It started out as "Funkorama Friday", then morphed into "Tha Fundamentalz", and from day one has been dedicated to serving up fresh Hip-Hop. When the station changed It's branding from "Philly 103.9" to "103.9 The Beat". The powers that be wanted to change the names of all specialty shows like ours on the station, so I immediately thought of "Pure Elementz". Why? Because it sums up what I have always held true to my heart, and that is representing the pure, non-commercial side of Hip-Hop music. On Philly 103.9 DJ Tactics was hired by the station initially to be the "Board-Op", meaning the man responsible for running the board, watching levels, playing commercials (boo!), keeping us on the air and essentially producing the show. After getting to know Tactics, and discovering that he was also a DJ with the same interests in good Hip-Hop, it was a perfect fit to add him to the show. The chemistry was there from the start, and with both of us having our own unique styles, Pure Elementz was finally a complete package. We always had a flow of well known Hip-Hop artists stop by as well, including De La Soul, Gang Starr, Royce 5"9, Big Noyd, Black Moon, Mos Def and more. But with the continuing commercialization of Hip-Hop, and less and less of the good pure music getting airplay, the show was eventually canceled When the station relaunched on a New frequency. But the following that the show generated in the Philadelphia tri-state area was voluminous, and those thousands of weekly listeners were left in limbo. So what is the natural progression for the show? Take it online to serve the masses not just locally, but worldwide with the finest of raw, uncensored Hip-Hop! There is a major void nationwide with Hip-Hop radio shows disappearing left and right, and Pure Elementz is here strictly to satisfy that craving. DJ Jay-Ski and DJ Tactics, with over 35 combined years in Hip-Hop as fans and also as Turntablists, definitely know the type of Hip-Hop that needs to be heard. The Hip-Hop that comes from the heart, songs made creatively with good intent for the culture. We aren't haters of "hit" makers, we are simply opposed to the type of hits that are made with the gimmicky attempt of crossover success. Pure Elementz is a brand that will always be here, as long as we are physically able to spin records and broadcast the sounds to your ears! FollowersPureelementz 's Friends
